Hospitality Industry Claims*

Have you ever wondered why the window of your hotel bedroom will not open fully? Or why there is a sign in the bathroom requiring you to use the rubber bath mat?

This is because the proprietors of hotels, hostels etc have a very high duty of care to their guests in terms of safety. It is accepted by the industry, insurance companies and the Courts that patrons of such establishments will and do consume alcohol sometimes to excess, but this does not rule out the duty of care and the possibility of claiming for injuries suffered whilst on the premises.

Caoimhe and her team recently settled a personal injury claim for an Australian national who suffered horrific injuries as a result of falling out of a window of a well known Dublin hostel. It was argued the window was too low in that it did not comply with relevant building standards and regulations. It was an accident waiting to happen.
